I don't know if you remember me, but I met you at a poetry festival in Albuquerque back in '97, I think.
A few days ago I was on the pacific coast in Mexico, watching a beautiful monarch butterfly, and I heard YOUR voice in my head. "Butterfly, why do you fly so high? Butterfly?" It just made me grin.
I got back to my hometown (Brooklyn) this weekend, and was looking around the web to see if there were any poetic protests against the war going on in NYC. I stumbled upon the BPC site, and saw that not only are you tending bar there, but that it's your birthday. I nosed around your site, and it's so good to see that you're doing so well -- poetry fame and true love.
I just wanted to let you know that your butterfly lines are still floating out there, landing on the unsuspecting...
