Hey! This is my first entry on my new computer! The two snoos are rocking the wireless connection! We have been watching internet videos to our heart's content! It's pretty awesome and now we are gonna improve the man den some more to make it more cozy. I need to get some kinda computer chair on wheels and Cristin wants to get another comfy chair in here. I gotta admit it's pretty swell! If you can believe it, we still have the puppy here as Ernie and Susan attend yet another wedding in New Orleans. Ernie tells me it's pretty crazy down there what with all the wreckage and garbage and abandoned cars. Way to stop caring, America!
Taylor and Marie-Elizabeth's wedding was really bee-yoo-tee-ful and fun. I kept callling it the Slammies cuz all kinds of slam poets were there. Beau Sia, Roger Bonair-Agard, Lynne Procope, Emily Kagan, Rives, Eric Guerrie and the Slamdaddy himself, Steve Marsh! It was a cloudy day and it looked like it was gonna rain but it never did! In fact, the sun came out just as they exchanged vows. It was fun chatting with everyone and seeing everyone all dressed up! We got sat at a table with a very cool teenage live-action role player named Wiley! Nerd table! The band was a 12 piece jazz ensemble. There was a brunch on Sunday and then me and Cristin and Susan stopped at a flea market where we found an awesome Game of Authors card game from the 30's and a bowler's ashtray.
Monday we had lunch with Susan Rice and She and Ernie really hit it off! In fact I'm gonna help with a play she's working on! I also am working on a poetry project for a TV pilot. Work finally picked up and we had a big birthday party on Friday for Beau. Another slammy evening!
My pal Anne from Magic Hat recently lost everything in a apartment fire so we are having a benefit on Saturday. Check out my Upcoming Events page for more details!

I'm a 21st Century Boy!!!
So, I am now the owner of a tricked-out, hot-rod super-computer!!! Ernie found me a powerful PC in Illinois and drove it down with him and his pup, Hildy! In fact, Hildy is curled up next to me as I write this! Little does she know her mom is about to arrive from the airport! Susan and Ernie are in town for Taylor and Marie-Elizabeth's wedding this weekend. So is Beau Sia and a buncha other poets that are coming. Should be a blast!
I'm a blonde for the summer! Cristin dyed my hair last week.
We almost have our slam team decided. Last Thursday was our final slam of the year and the top 4 were Jaimie Kilstien, August, Jeananne and Ove. However, Ove decided to slam in Bar 13's finals and ended up winning that slam! So now Akua is next up but she's slamming at Nuyorican this Friday. If she gets on that team then it's Nicole Homer on the team unless she wins in Jersey and decides to go with that team! If that happens then Sara Kay would be on the team! Whew! Slam is so complicated! We'll know all by next week.
I'd like to shout out Magic Hat for sending some fine slam judges but also for the kick ass BBQ grill we gave as our 1st place award but for the cool banner and setting us up with $3 pints all night! You made the night! Thanks Ann, Tom and Sean!
So back to my awesome computer! I need to give her a name! She came loaded with DVD/CD drive and burner. I have stereo speakers. Ernie set me up with some movies, Planet of the Apes cartoons and every episode of SERENITY. Plus a shit-load of songs and a Star Trek game! I ordered DSL and it should be here next week! I plan on updating this page and start getting serious about selling some comics and stuff on ebay! Did I mention this whole cyber-operation cost less than $500? Ernie RULES! And soon, I will rule the WORLD!!!(wide-web)

Jess and Ken from ABQ's Mos Alba 501st both wrote today! The Mos Alba crew -- and in particular those guys -- were invaluable to FANBOYS, and Cristin and I got along with them (and their wives) like Froglings and Wookies!
At the end of our two weekends together (when I came down for the FANBOYS shoot) they made me an honorary member of the Fighting 501st! 
They are going to put together a "behind the scenes" website for FANBOYS, and Cristin and I can't wait to add to it! Stay tuned for the link!
We miss you guys! Live long and prosper!

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted! The Shaptowicz compound was having severe technical problems as Cristin's new laptop was infected by a crazy virus that took us a week to conquer! Soon that will not be a problem as I am going to be getting my own computer soon! Ernie is gonna find me a system in Illinois and save me a bunch of $$! He and Susan are driving out for Taylor Mali's wedding next weekend and bringing a PC for me! In exchange I will be taking care of thier pup Hilde while they travel to New Orleans for a wedding.
Cristin got a package in the mail from a band called GOODBYE OHIO that used one of her comic diary entries (of the same name) as a tee-shirt! What we didn't realize is that my niece and nephew would be on thew tee-shirt as well! Now I gotta get shirts for the whole fam! The teeshirts are based on this entry:
We wore them on Saturday and had brunch at Fatty's Cafe. When we showed up the owner was all "Hey! It's Uncle Shappy! Or does your website say UNCLES HAPPY?"! Turns out he googled around and found all the good things we've said about the place here! He was so happy he offered us free drinks! Which we didn't really take advantage of, alas! But little does he know Fatty's has made it into Cristin's Comic Diary too:

SHE DRAWS ALL!
So after brunch, later that day I had a gig at St. Mark's church called Talking Stick which is run by Master Lee and Rick Patrick. It was cool. Everybody was riffing on sex and death which set up my piece about sex and death up perfectly!
This Thursday is our Slam Finals where we decide who will be on the team we send to the National Poetry Slam in Austin, TX! For the first time in Urbana history we have more women than men slamming! 5 gals, 3 dudes! We'll have a great team no matter what happens but I would love to walk in to NPS with an all female squad! Shappy's Angels!
Anyhoo, the show starts at 7pm at the Bowery Poetry Club this Thursday May 4th! We're having a big TOGA afterparty with Sweet D, Make-Out Party, Soce The Elemental Wizard and The Dustballs! It would be foolish to miss this!
