Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays! Another Christmas has come and gone and mine was was a gas and a giggle! Depite the transit strike that DID NOTHING but screw over all of NYC me and Cristin hopped on a bus to Jersey with her sister and fiancee Leo and it was smooth sailing! Had perogies and brichole for dinner and helped set up the tree. The next day was X-mas eve and we decorated the tree and watched the Muppet Show on DVD. The rest of the Aptowicz clan arrived and Christmas was an all day affair. I did the mashed potatoes (put in a little too much cumin but no one minded too much) and we had a great feast! Cristin and I got a good response from the home-made gifts. Cristin made a great painting of all the couples for her brother and sister-in-law, I painted an ornament of Cait and Leo's cat, Michigan, and we donated money to a dachshund rescue for Katie's mom and sister Jessie. Mr. and Mrs. A recieved matching, customized sweatsuits that read BIG MOMMA CUDDLES & BIG POPPA BRUCE! Mrs. A also got a new bike from the rest of the family and Cristin was tickled to watch her mom pedal around on it in her new sweatsuit! I was honored to recieve the family vinage Viewmaster collection as a gift! We also got a down comforter from Cait and Leo (so cozy!) matching NERD THUG shorts from Kevin and Katie and $75 in Olive Garden gift cards, some art supplies, a fix-it-yourself book
and some awesome stocking stuffing from BIG MOMMA CUDDLES AND BIG POPPA BRUCE! A donation was also made in our name to the Attic Theatre Company for gay teens from Ingrid and Jessie! Awesome!
Thanks to my brother Cal and Katie and Taylor and Luke for the awesome gifts! I was stunned to find an I-pod shuffle in my box of holiday cheer! I'm a 21st Century boy!
I also got a Darth Tater and some Snoopy PJ's (that I wore on X-mas!). I sent out some Star Wars toys I got at Star Wars Celebration for Luke and some re-pro's of vintage Fisher-Price Toys for Taylor.
Mom and Dad are flying us out for a Florida visit in 2006! I can't wait to see them. It's been too long!
Ernie and Susan also sent some cool stuff our way. Including a bunch of swag from the Butt-Numb-A-Thon and a shitload of VCD's! And some great framed pix! (By the way we have stuff ready to send your way, guys!)
Me and Cristin are going to get new computers before the year is out and the Man Den will soon become the Man Den Office!
Looks like we're staying in Astoria for New Year's but come to the book release party for The Bowery Bartender's Big Book of Poetry on December 30th at the BPC!

The transit strike is "over" but there is no way of knowing when things will actually start running. This makes getting around the city a huge pain in the ass. I kinda lucked out in that I had to go into work at the BPC on Monday and stayed with our sound guy Stefan for two nights. I was smart enough to bring provisions along. So I worked 3 nights in a row DURING the strike and people actually showed up and played their gigs! Not a lot of civilians but I still made out pretty good tip-wise. (sympathy? holiday spirit?).
Cristin stayed at Susan Rice's which is near her work but only after walking from Astoria to SoHo over the 59th Street Bridge. It took her two and a half hours (over seven miles in 20 degree weather!) and then her work tried to dock her pay for being 45 minutes late (Fuss fought that, you better believe!)! Cabbies have been making money hand over fist. I paid $40 to get back from the BPC to Astoria. ( Normally it's Around 20) It's really screwed up all of our plans but still two snoos strive and survive in '05!
Tomorrow we head for the Parlor by the Sea (Aptowicz Jersey Shore House) for a very Merry Christmas! Yeah, I said it, CHRISTMAS!!! Later I'll have my TOP FIVE OF 05 lists so stay tuned!

For the un-Apto-savvy, that's Cristin's bro Kevin and his wife Katie on the left, and Cristin's sis Caitlin and her fiance, Leo, on the right.
A nice pic, I must say, even if there is a stunning lack of family dachshunds...
