Happy Birthday to my Dad!
The folks have sold the house and are going on a road trip! They are hitting the mid-west and visiting my brother and his wife, Katie and lil' Luke! Then off to PA for the first time in 30 years Dad says! Me and Cristin are gonna try and meet up with them.
I feel like a big sap tonight. My right foot is swollen (diagnosis-mild gout) so I opted to skip Beau Sia's Junior High Dance Party. Plus, it's at the BPC and I've been there like 30 hours in the past 2 days. Enough already. Plus we decided to skip Great Adventure. We walked around today for a few hours and between my limping and Cristin wilting in the humidity I don't think an all day excursion to an amusement park would've been wise. Especially since we would've had to get up at 7 am to go and meet at 9am! I haven't been up that early in years! I think a movie might be in order tomorrow. There's a Godzilla fest at Film Forum and I've only seen one Godzilla movie on a big screen-Godzilla vs. Megalon at a drive-in! It was life-altering! (I was 6 at the time). The RNC hasn't even begun and already the cops have arrested 250 protesting cyclists at a Mass Transit rally last night. I smell trouble ahead! Tommorow the big pow-pow in Central Park. I predict things will get ugly fast. There are police BLIMPS patrolling the skies as well as L.A. style copters with searchlights. It's a lockdown people! I'll keep you posted as best I can!

Call me Ishmeal!
Had an audition for audiobooks for the blind. Went pretty good considering I've never had a voiceover audition in my life! Of course, I had to read from Moby Dick which is a tricky task. They seemed to like me. I hope something comes of it. I then went and bought some used dvd's at Kim's videos including FROGS about a swarm of killer frogs! Can't wait to watch it with Cristin. I then had a meeting at the BPC for a series of books Bob is publishing on demand. I should have some for my trip to Vegas in October for the book festival I'm performing in there. I'm now watching Escape From LA. Good late night flick. Tomorrow I get to work an Uncle Jimmy's Dirty Basement show at the club. Should be a good night. We get to cat-sit again this weekend and we got invited to Great Adventure this Sunday! I haven't been to an Amusement park in years! Except for Coney Island. Then the Republicans come to town and ruin everything!

Sorry to keep doing these weekly wrap-ups but hey, I'm busy LIVING, BABY!
Did I mention Bucky Sinister was in town last Sunday? He'll be back tommorow. We had a swell dinner with him last Sunday.
Monday- Had pizza with snoo and talked about screenwriting stuff. Went to the O'Debra's open-mic and it was full of surly characters. Always fun hanging out with the Art Stars of the Lower East Side. The weird vibe continued throught the week at the BPC.
Tuesday-It was the kick-off night for the HOWL Festival at the club. Twas a busy evening. Lots of bands played and then at midnight porn stars read beat poetry in the nude! I was pretty busy behind the bar but just because you're naked doesn't mean you're interesting. Some 3oo pound dude got up from the crowd and got naked as well. His balls were the size of two cantalopes. Ah, beauty! Ah, poetry! I made great money off this pervy crowd and got home on the early side.
Wednesday-Cleaned up after 2 weeks of cat-sitting. Bought new comics and latest Comics Journal which has added color pages and more art but not sure it's worth the price increase. Still a great ish with Alex Toth and Will Elder. Came home to Astoria and ate supper at our beloved Neptune Diner. Watched some of the Olympics. I can tell you this much, I don't have Olympic fever.
Thursday- What started as a slow night became quite hectic as 3rd Party ( a monthly hip-hop show that I actually like) rocked the busiest night I've had in a while. Thank heavens for my German pal Rinehart who bar-backed. In three hours we each made over a hundred bucks each! The tipping gods have favored me well this week.
Friday- A nice healthy lunch with a snoo then a nicely paced Friday night. Then a large crowd amassed for the BPC radio show taping. We're hoping to get it heard nationally. Cristin won the slam and $10! I read from behind the bar. Some big-shot bought the Hungry Marching Band (all 15 of them) drinks! Then a slow-ish pace from that point on. I had Rinehart come in just in case but didn't need him. I made great tips. And that's a good thing because I think my pawn shop VCR just bit the dust today after almost 7 years of duty.
Today we watched The Blob. Cristin actually stayed up til 5 am yesterday! Hanging out with Beau and Muhlburger. Now she naps as I watch Disinformation on DVD. I might have an audio book audition next week and I'm soon to be published in a BPC anthology! It's good to be me! I'm awesome!

Weekly Wrap-Up!
What a whirlwind week!
Tuesday- A slow night at the club but walking home is always a treat instead of taking a cab home.
Wednesday- I went and saw our sound guy Stefan's band MYTV'S. It was great to see a great rock band with a bunch of friends and co-workers! There was "industry" there. I would keep my eyes peeled for these guys. It's kinda got a Strokes meets The Cult (ELECTRIC) vibe.
Thursday- Had a fine lunch with snoo. Made insane tips at work!
Friday- The last voyage of Jollyship The Whiz-Bang! Much sadness! The guys closed out with a cover of "Surrender" by Cheap Trick. They also name dropped me a lot. I'm not sure what Fridays will be like without that show! Boring for sure! Still a great sold-out crowd! More insane tips!
Saturday- Finally, a two snoos day! We slept in, ordered in lunch, played Scrabble, had BBQ for dinner, bought magazines and went and saw The Village (of boringness) by M. Night Sham. Still a swell evening.
Sunday- Brunch with Taylor Mali, The McKibbenses and Anis to discuss Urbana business. Not sure if much was settled but it seems the ball is at least rolling. Cristin woke up with a swollen eyelid which freaked her ( and me) out. She seems better now. Hung out with Bucky Sinister at the BPC radio show taping and got him on the air. We went and had dinner with Cristin and sent Bucky off to Brooklyn to meet his touring partners. I was feeling a little groggy after our big cajun meal so now we relax and watch SLACKER on IFC. Tommorow I go to fetch our mail and then AVP!

Thank Jeebus! A snoo is home and all tuckered out! Cristin got in late on Sunday and then had to go to work all day! She is now napping in the next room. I'm not sure when to wake her or if I should wake her at all! Me and the cats are watching a show on crop circles Now a snoo's awake! See ya later!.

WHAT'S GOING ON?
Sorry to be a non-updating dude of late. Truth is, I've been getting updates all week long from what looks to be the WORST NATIONAL POETRY SLAM, EVER!
I can't even begin to scratch the surface of how much crazy shit is going down in St. Louis town!
A poet arrested for indecent exposure at opening ceremonies, hence bringing opening ceremonies to a halt.
Sparsely attended bouts which means no unbiased judges which means hour-long delays, etc.
Protests! Protests! Protests!
Just be thankful that a camera crew is getting all of this on film!
On the positive side, URBANA won both of their bouts and will compete in semi-finals tonight! Say a little prayer!
Cristin will be hosting the Indie Finals tonight. (Indies being the highest ranked solo poets. No URBANA-ites in there)
The NERD SLAM rocked! Big crowd, trivia-offs and duets and group pieces! A first! Cristin called and I got to say hello to all my nerdy brothers and sisters! Me so proud!
I miss my tiny baby snoo!
In other World News Now-Dawn Saylor was just on Politics LIVE on ABC WNN! Under her was a title card saying "Political Poet". It reminded me when I was on MTV and under me it said NERD POET.
I've been doing my bartending thang all week. Last night was awesome as Jollyship Whizbang put on a killer variety show with slides and puppets and the cutest 6 yr old violinist you ever did see! Another long night awaits me. Then a day of rest!
Oh yeah, my baby bro is getting a new house! On a golf course! 4th hole tee-off.
Here's a funny thing a said last night-
"You want to know the twist ending is in "The Village"?
"Turns out the movie SUCKS!"
