I will write more when Cristin isn't watching me write. Take that, Cristin!

Hey, we did good! Last Thursday we had a little fundraiser at the BPC to help out my team-mate and new hubby/daddy George McKibbons. There was some family trouble afoot and we raised a nice amount of change! It was great to see the poetry community come together and help out a friend in need! The next evening was a b-day party for Celena Glenn another team-mate who will soon be taking over my old apartment. The party was great! I got to read a poem with a band called Music for Cats and made great tips! Basically sat around Cristin's place this weekend. I rented 24 hour party people and instead we watched crappy network television instead! I was all for watching the SNL half-time thingy but I mean come on! It's a 2 day rental! I did win a couple of Scrabble matches against my smarty pants gal pal. Man, moving is gonna be a big pain. But when is it ever fun to do heavy lifting? It'll all be worth it though when me and Cristin get to set up house. SIGH!

Just had dinner with Phil West and his wife Michelle. Me and Cristin are housesitting and pretending that this fancy apartment is ours to entertain guests and whatnot. Man, it is getting f'n cold here in NYC! I was walking around with Hannah and Jason on Friday night and I swear it was in the single digits! Hannah and Jason get the Best Houseguest award for getting me a freaking air mattress! Plus they paid for stuff and Jason gave me a really nicely designed CD of my show in Chicago last October. Getting ready to move in with Cristin. Luckily most of my stuff is still in boxes and stuff! I can't wait to get real bookshelves! Wow, that kinda tells you where my head's at these days- the domestication of Shappy!

Never yawn during a Sandra Bernhard performance, especially if you are sitting in the front row! She will bust your balls! Yes, it's true! Cristin took me to see her agent's talent showcase. We also got to see Eric Bogosian and Sara Vowell! All in one night! Earlier that day I got to watch Cristin read her poem To Whom it May Concern while The Chamber Dance Company danced behind her! It was really cool. It was even cooler watching buff male dancers kiss and flirt with my girlfriend right in front of me! In other news, I have a chance to meet Al Gore tomorrow! I'll get into more detail later if it goes down.I've got to write some poems that old ladies might enjoy for a gig Taylor has talked me into at the Y.Also looking forward to playing Scrabble with the Blue Hairs! Off to take Cristin out for solid food! She's been on a yoga "cleanse" all week! Me? I love solids!

Yeah, sorry I haven't posted in a while and it might be a while longer seeing that I am writing this on Cristin's busted computer! Her poor little power cord is on it's last leg! So it's pretty much official-Cristin and I will soon be living together! Her roomie is moving to Austraila! The only drag is that it's pretty far away from the club, but I'll manage. I met Nikki Giovanni on Thursday. She was taping a show for BET Jazz at the club. Look for a surly bartender on Lyric Cafe sometime soon. The club has been hopping lately at least on my nights. I switched my schedule so I now have Saturday and Sunday off! Clever, eh? Hannah from Quimby's is coming to town with her boyfriend soon. I can't wait to show em around town.I got to improv a little last Monday with the Bowery Improv Poets. Everyone was pretty complementary except the guy who said I looked like a 60 year old on stage. Must be the mustache! I promised Cristin I'd grow it back as a xmas gift. Saw Two Towers courtesy of Ernie's bootleg! Awesome! Now I guess I gotta see it on the big screen. Also saw Confessions of a Dangereous Mind and it was also very good. Chuck Barris is coming to Barnes & Noble on the 22nd I am so there! Also go see Adaptation the best movie of 2003. I smell Oscar! Charlie Kauffman RULES! Also read The Truth a new mini-series from Marvel Comics about how the government tested the super-soldier serum on black GI's before giving it to Steve Rogers (Captain America)! Great story and art by Kyle Baker! I haven't seen it yet but I hear there's a wiener dog Verizon ad on TV! Dig you all later!

Just so you know...

This is Cristin writing whilst Shappy snoozes away in the other room. But last night he came home a little delirous and a little tipsy after a 12 hour shift bartending, and when he got into to bed, he got all wet-eyed and said "You know what I have to do, Cristin. I have to write in my web journal. At least to apologize to my Mom and Eric Thorton, I got to!" but I told him that sleeping would be a better choice for the time being. So y'all best get prepared for a "long ass web entry" to be written later today and of course, apologies to Mom Seasholtz and Eric.

Also, he said I could mentioned that we saw "Country Bears the Movie" and that it was one the BEST movied every made. If your idea of high cinema is watching Christopher Walken menace in a tweed suit in scenes that 90% of the time are performed EXCLUSIVELY with bears dressed as hill billies, than have we got a movie for you!
